KEY MESSAGES

-  The El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is now in the El Niño Phase and is strengthening rapidly in the tropical Pacific Ocean.

- The rainfall outlook for Tuvalu indicates a mixture of above-normal (wetter-than normal) and below-normal (drier-than-normal) rainfall conditions during both the September and September to November periods.

- SST’s around Tuvalu are expected to be warmer than usual (Above Average) in September 2026, especially in the Northern parts of the country. The warming is weaker towards the Southern Islands.

- Coral Bleaching Outlook is on Watch over the Northern Groups, and NO stress for the Central and Southern groups of Tuvalu.

- For the September to November 2026 period, the FCZ is expected to be near Niulakita and further south than its normal position.
